PATRICK DERMODY, MD – FAMILY MEDICINE
Dr. Patrick Dermody, or often affectionately referred to as "Dr. Patrick" was raised in Napa, attending local elementary, middle, and high School in Napa. Before departing for southern pastures, he also spent considerable time working at the QVMC as a lift technician, and occasionally causing mischief for his parents at their local office.
Dr. Patrick Dermody went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University, obtained a post-baccalaureate in sciences from the University of Southern California, received his medical doctorate from University of California, San Diego Medical School, and most recently, completed a family medicine residency at Ventura County Medical Center. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Patrick Dermody practices comprehensive family medicine, caring for patients of all ages and in a variety of settings. This includes outpatient primary and acute care at his private office, inpatient hospitalist work at the Queen of the Valley Medical Center, and occasionally palliative care in a home setting. He works with a bilingual staff and accommodates same day appointments.
John Dermody, MD – FAMILY MEDICINE
Dr. Dermody received a Bachelor of Science with honors from Cornell University in the study of genetics, graduated from University of Texas Medical School, San Antonio, and completed a family medicine residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Dermody practices comprehensive family medicine, caring for patients of all ages and in a variety of settings. This includes his private office, Queen of the Valley Medical Center, skilled nursing facilities, and occasionally in a home setting. He works with a bilingual staff and accommodates same day appointments.
Dr. Dermody is a deacon in the Santa Rosa Diocese and enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons and their spouses, and grandchildren. He is an avid gardener, skier and guitarist.
LEA DURANTE, NP
ERIC BELL, PA
Eric Bell, PA-C received his Bachelor of Science in Biology with honors from UCLA, and Master's Degree in Physician Assistant studies from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA. He is certified by the California Physician Assistant Board, and Nationally certified by NCCPA.
Eric was raised to try to make a difference in the world, and you must start in the community in which you live. He has worked with underserved populations volunteering for UCLA's Mobile Clinic for Los Angeles homeless population, and did clinical rotations in Federally Qualified Medically Underserved Areas in California. Before pursuing his Physician Assistant degree, Eric worked as a Medical Assistant for St. Helena Hospital's outpatient clinics in various specialties.
Eric has lived in Napa since he was 9 years old, and is dedicated to serving and providing quality healthcare to the community that helped him thrive and achieve his goals. Eric is a current Napa resident with his wife and 2 children. When not working, Eric enjoys spending time with his family, finding hidden gems in the Napa Valley, keeping up with current events, and participating in community events.

THOMAS SUARD, MD – FAMILY MEDICINE
Dr. Suard is a Board Certified Family Physician. He graduated from UCSB with high honors in Biologic Science and received his Medical Doctorate from UCLA School of Medicine. His Family Medicine residency training was completed at San Pedro Peninsula Hospital, an affiliate of Harbor General/UCLA Medical Center. After formal training, Dr. Suard spent two years working in a Federally Qualified Medically Under Served Area in Sierra County, California through the National Health Service Corp. During those years, he also served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Nevada Reno Family Practice Medical Center teaching medical students and residents. In 1987, Dr. Suard and his family (wife Nicky and two young sons) moved to Napa where his Family Medicine practice has been at the same location for over 25 years.
Dr. Suard is on the active medical staff at Queen of the Valley Medical Center where he has held several medical staff offices including: Chair of the Dept. of Family Medicine, Chair of Credentials Committee and member of the Medical Staff Executive Committee. As a member of the Napa County Medical Society, he has served as President and has represented Napa County to the California Medical Association. He has been involved in activities in the Napa community including assisting the establishment of the Community Foundation of the Napa Valley and Choix de Vie, a home for pregnant teens (now called Rainbow House). He has volunteered for numerous other community non-profits. Dr. Suard is a member of Grace Church of Napa.
Dr. Suard and his office staff are committed to providing excellent medical care to the entire family. They provide continuity of care to their patients in the hospital, ICU, skilled nursing facility, or when needed, at home. In the office, they provide care for chronic and acute illnesses in a manner designed to address the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of human suffering and wellness. CHRISTINE LOFFLER-BARRY, MD – PEDIATRICS
Dr. Christine Loffler-Barry has been practicing pediatrics in the Napa Valley since 1998.
She is an experienced, board certified pediatrician who brings a warm and inviting approach in partnering with parents to assure the optimal health of pediatric patients.
She attended medical school at the prestigious University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain and completed her pediatric training at UMDNJ in New Jersey. Dr. Loffler- Barry completed a fourth year of training as the Chief Resident at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ, and stayed for another year as a pediatric hospitalist.
She is a Board Certified Pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a member of the Napa County Medical Society, and a member of the California Medical Association. She is trained in Touchpoints, a tool for pediatric developmental assessment, has been Chair of the Obstetrical/ Pediatric Department at Queen of the Valley and currently holds the position as Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
She has participated in the National Foundation of Celiac Awareness, works with Healthy for Life, the obesity task force in Napa, and has been featured on the local radio station, discussing latino health issues.
She is married and has two children. She is fluent in both Spanish and German.
VICTORIA MORGESE, MD – PEDIATRICS
Dr. Victoria Morgese is a co-founder of Napa Valley
Pediatrics that has been associated with NVMG since 2018. She has been practicing in Napa since 1993, and is affiliated with Queen of the Valley Medical Center.
Dr. Morgese is Board Certified in Pediatrics, a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics, a member of the Napa County Medical Society and the California Medical Association. She was co-chair of the School Health Committee from 2001-2017 and has served twice as Chief of the Obstetrics/Pediatric Department at QVMC, and on the Executive Medical Staff Committee. She was previously the Medical Director of the "Healthy for Life" program.
Dr. Morgese has been selected as a "Top Doctor" in Napa several times, first in 2008, and most recently in 2020.
Dr. Morgese attended Loma Linda University School of Medicine where she completed both her medical degree and her pediatric specialty training.
Prior to that she received her undergraduate degree in nursing and worked for several years as a Registered Nurse.
Her husband is also a physician here in the community and they have two children.
ELAINE GOMEZ, PNP
Elaine Gomez is our Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She provides an environment of compassionate care to our patients and their families to answer their questions and discuss any medical concerns they may have. She joined us in 2007, after working for a Sacramento Medical Group for 13 years.
KIMBERLY WOOLLEY, PNP
Kim Woolley is a Board-Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She joined the United States Air Force Nurse Corps soon after graduating from Saint Anselm College in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In 2002.
She earned her Master of Science Degree from the University of California, San Francisco with a focus in pediatrics and continued her Air Force career caring for military families in primary care clinics in Texas, Washington DC, North Carolina, New Mexico and Ohio.
Kim retired from active duty service as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2015 and settled in the North Bay in 2016 with her husband and two daughters. She is proud to call California her forever home.

Tawhid Gazi, MD – Gastroenterology
Dr. Gazi received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tufts University, where he also completed his internal medicine residency and advanced gastroenterology fellowship. He is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and trained in ERCP/EUS.
Dr. Gazi provides complete digestive care for the community, the spectrum running from screening colonoscopies to liver care to pancreatic cancer staging. He prefers a holistic approach to health, encouraging the blending of eastern methods with the best of western medicine.
He believes each patient should be an active participant in selecting the best method of healing. He has same-day and evening appointments for your convenience.
Dr. Gazi lives in the Coombsville area with his wife Laura, and five children. He enjoys traveling, cooking, and watching football with his family.

BARRY BROWN, MD – FAMILY MEDICINE
Dr. Brown graduated from Santa Clara University and while there he worked at NASA’s Ames Research Center analyzing lunar samples and developing experiments for the Viking Mars lander. He went to medical school at Saint Louis University where he met and married his wife of 44 years, Joy. His residency in Family Medicine was at the UC Davis’ Sacramento Medical Center where he was Chief Resident in his last year. He has lived in Saint Helena since completing his residency and in the same office since 1984.
Dr. Brown was a pioneer medical director at Health Clinic Ole in the early 80’s, and has served two terms as chief of Staff at Saint Helena Hospital. He and his wife have raised two children, now grown, and together enjoy their grandchildren, cooking, gardening, wine appreciation, home improvement projects and a tiny getaway in Lake County.
MARIE B. HUGHES, D.O. - FAMILY MEDICINE
Marie B. Hughes, D.O. is board certified in Family Medicine with a medical degree from Touro University in Vallejo, CA. She obtained her undergraduate degree from UC Davis and recently completed a UC Davis-affiliated residency in Merced, CA.
Dr. Hughes has recently joined Napa Valley Medical Group, Inc. and will be practicing with Dr. Barry Brown at 1222 Pine St. in St. Helena, CA. She enjoys the preventative health, urgent care, seeing the full spectrum of patient ages and management of chronic diseases that Family Medicine affords her. When she isn’t practicing medicine, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and two children.
HILLARY HOPPE, NP
Hillary Hoppe is a Nurse Practitioner who grew up in Saint Helena, California. She left to attend Boise State University, where she received her Bachelors Science in Nursing. After graduation she stayed to work as an RN in areas of NICU, Emergency Room, Medical/Surgical, Postpartum, Oncology and Women’s Health. She then attended Medical University of South Carolina where she received her Masters of Science in Nursing and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice. During her graduate school course work, she had the opportunity to learn in practices throughout the Napa Valley. She officially joined Napa Valley Medical Group, Inc. as a Nurse Practitioner in August 2019. When Hillary is not at work she enjoys traveling to new cities, podcasting, spending time with her friends and her dog.

JONATHAN WHEELER, MD – FAMILY MEDICINE
Dr. Wheeler is Board Certified in Family Medicine with a medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Dr. Wheeler started his family practice in the Napa Valley in 1992. He is also the Student Health Physician at Pacific Union College since 2002.
Dr. Wheeler is a past President of the Napa County Medical Society, and was recently awarded 2012 Physician of the Year, presented by Congressman Mike Thompson. Dr. Wheeler is a third generation Napa Valley resident, residing in St. Helena with his wife and two children. He enjoys hiking, skiing and mountain climbing; having recently climbed Mount Shasta with his daughter.
JENNIFER SMITH, PA
Jennifer Smith, PA-C has worked in the Valley with Jonathan Wheeler since 1996. She got her undergraduate degree at San Diego State University and completed her physician assistant program at UC Davis in 2001. She has continued to work with Dr Wheeler throughout her physician assistant career seeing patients part time in Jonathan Wheeler’s office and students at Pacific Union College.
She spends more of her time in her primary role as mother to 3 teenagers. In her leisure time, she likes to trail run with her dog, ride mountain bikes with her son, and work in her yard when her girls will join her.
